Nokia 6 Review – Full on Nostalgic

The Legacy and Reliability of Nokia can never be forgotten and even if the things didn’t go that well in the middle one will agree that Nokia has always been the company which was made to pioneer the market and so with the Same reign Nokia I’d back with a Smartphone which feels like a an evolution but a great Start to the company why do we say so let’s find out as this is our full Review of the First True Nokia Android Smartphone aka Nokia 6.

Nokia 6 Review

 Build and Design

As always let’s start with the Build and by no surprise the Nokia 6 is built like a monster and is one of the more exquisite and steardier device that you can expect from (once) a Behemath like Nokia and as we are done appreciating it lets take a look at the placement of the device so on the right we have the power Lock and unlock key and Volume Rockers both are quite steady and offers exceptional travel and feedback and on the left we have the Hybrid Sim Slot meaning you can add 2 Sim’s or Add and Sim and a SD card if the built-in 64GB in-built storage isn’t enough for you, at the bottom We have the Micro USB Type port, Speaker Grill and primary Microphone and on top we have the 3.5MM Headphone jack, and on the back we have the Secondary Microphone, 16MP camera Dual tone Dual LED flash and Nokia branding in Portrait and at the front We have a 5.5” Full HD LCD display, 8Mp Camera, Earpiece which also doubles as a tweeter, Some Sensors, Fingerprint Scanner/Home button, flanked in between two Capacitive buttons which are backlit but the irony is they aren’t incenterd but what can we say!

The Nokia 6 comes with a 5.5″ Full HD LCD display with 401PPI and as expected the the display is well saturated and the has Wide viewing angles and even if you are a huge Pixel peeper you will not notice any pixels on the screen and while we are discussing about display how can we leave the protection aspect aside and thankfully the Nokia 6  has Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top along with 2.5D curved Glass which seamlessly blends in with sides of the device so that’s nice!

Under the Hood

So while we are talking about the display why don’t we talk about what’s powering it on and here is where we feel that Nokia has made a compromise as the Nokia 6 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 Octacore SoC, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB on-board storage which is expandable via the Hybrid Dual-sim slot, and as expected the Snapdragon 430 SoC is a decent performer and is as snappy in day to day operations which might be partially due to the Nokia 6 having a 1080p display as it results in a boon to the Smartphone as it doesn’t need to push many pixels but we would have loved to see Nokia of HMD Global using a Snapdragon 600 series SoC but still the SoC coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage the experience is Smooth and by the time I was using the device it performed quite well and it doesn’t matter what I am doing with the device either it’s games or apps you name it the device can handle most of the titles available in the PlayStore that you throw at it, that too with ease and the best part the device doesn’t heat up! So at least that’s better.
Nokia 6 comes with Android 7.0 Nougat with Nokia’s New UI  which is essentially based up on CyanogenMod 14 and so all the regular features such as multi window and not to mention there is loads of Customization available, there is This theme support and there are plethora of features that we have cannot cover and yes the Animations are blazing  fast which makes the Nokia 6 faster then ever and the UI also has load’s of features either way you will be satisfied with the Software experience of the Nokia 6!

Nokia 6 and the Nokia 6 boast’s a Solid set of Cameras, the primary 16MP f2.0 camera performs well in daylight and produces great pictures and satisfactory 1080p videos (No 4k videos sorry) and is one of the better performers in low-light and again the front 8MP 2.0 shooter is good for Selfies and will definitely fill the hunger of the ongoing selfie trend and both the front and rear Cameras feel like a step up from the other smartphones available in this Price segment but again the Lenovo Moto G5 Plus still remains the unpresidented kinf of cameras in this Price segment but the Nokia 6 isn’t far behind however we would have loved to see 4k Recording option for the price but we can never see that happening as the hardware isn’t capable of doing it!

Battery life

We come to the Battery-life so the Nokia 6 sports 3000 mAh battery and as expected the combo of low res 1080p display and the power efficient Snapdragon 430 SoC results in the Device performing good in battery life and heavy user can get through one day of use with ease and if you are a moderate user then this device will easily best you a one and half day of use but we aren’t that so the device just lasted us till the dinner session with a SoT of about 5 hours of SOT and the standby times were excellent too but if you kill your Device one the first day as we did then you are out of luck as there is No Quick Charge Support on the device huh! Why Nokia?

So! what do we feel about the Nokia 6, in our opinion the Nokia 6 is a solid Smartphone from Nokia which is a great start from the company but it would have been great to see the SoC to be a bit power full assuming a 600 Series SoC from Qualcomm but apart from that everything about the Nokia 6 is great with great display, great camera, great build quality, great software experience and with a good battery life the Nokia 6 is one of the best smartphone in 2017 that too coming from Nokia everything feels like a Nostalgia and we couldn’t help but recommend to anyone who is a Nokia fan but again is you just want a Smartphone in that price Segment or for that matter any Smartphone under 20k then you better be offset with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (64GB) or the Lenovo Zuk Z2 plus (64GB) which is better in most of the aspects than the Nokia 6 and to be frank it’s even cheaper then the Nokia 6 which is priced for 1699¥ or 17000/- INR (Roughly) and for that price despite it being a Good phone from Nokia the pricing feels a bit steep in my honest opinion and if I were you then I would probably go with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 or the higher end variant of the Lenovo Zuk Z2 plus just for the Raw Performance improvements (SD 820) and cheaper price (i.e., if you opt for Redmi Note 4 SD 625) but if you want a solid phone and can’t trust Chinese vendors and just want a phone from Top tier manufacturer or want to go full on Nostalgiac then the Nokia 6 is your way to go! And so there you have it the Nokia 6 In all its
Glory but do you agree with what we said, if not what is that you don’t agree with.
